Street Legal Drags Project

NHRA Street-Legal Drag Racing Awareness

As a junior at Hershey High School, Heather is required to develop a graduation project.  Since this project is to be relevant to something that is important to the student, Heather chose to focus on the sport of drag racing.

Each year, Heather's home track, Maple Grove Raceway, has a high school challenge where students race their street cars at the track.  Racers earn points for their high school teams as they win rounds.  Ultimately, the school with the most points is the overall team champion.  Heather's school has never before participated in this event.

Heather has assembled a program in which students will have several meetings to learn about drag racing featuring two of professional drag racing's most successful racers, Doug Foley (
www.dougfoley.com) and Mike Dunn (http://www.mikedunnracing.com/).  Doug and Mike will come to Hershey High School to share their knowledge and experiences with the students who will be racing on the team as well as encourage those students to "take to the strip, not the street".  These sessions will take place in the next few weeks, culminating in the UTI High School Challenge on April 29th, 2007.

Heather and Allison have teamed up with the Mychron Top Guns Junior Dragster series to distribute information on the NHRA Street Legal Drags program and sponsors' products.
